I recently taught a lesson in my adult Bible class which gave an overview of the content of Galatians. I drew out a nice chart on our whiteboard, but then I decided to go fancy-pants and use a drawing program to create an image of the same material. Here's the result:
Two comments, one about the content of the chart and another about creating the chart itself:
- The benefit of a chart like this is its simplicity, but that is also its danger. This synthesizes a great deal of complex argumentation down into key ideas and phrases, so it should be understood as a heuristic help, not the final word.
- Creating this chart was a lot easier than I thought. I use Omnigraffle, which is a great tool for this kind of work. Highly recommended if you are on the Mac.
