I posted this a while back on my Wordpress blog, but I want to highlight it here following up on my theme of faithful exegesis. This is still a moving example of exegesis affecting the exegete personally. The post is almost two years old; if anyone has updated information on Dr. Mounce or his wife's health, please let me know in the comments.
Here is a very moving blog post at the Gospel Coalition which highlights Robert Mounce's loving care of his wife as she struggles with poor health in her old age. Mounce is well know as a fine exegete of the biblical text. He has produced commentaries on a number of books, most notably the book of Revelation in the New International Commentary on the New Testament series. This is a fitting testimony to the power of exegesis seen to its proper end: a life well lived in loving service to others. May we all emulate this fine example.
