This tweet recently showed up in my feed (thanks to Andrew King for the retweet) and led me to a really good book: Paul J. Silva, How to Write a Lot. Short and to the point, this book gives solid, practical advice on how to write regularly and on schedule. There’s not much magic here, but there is well thought out advice that professors and other busy academics can use to increase their output. Personally I got several new ideas on how to organize my work and motivate myself to write more often. Highly recommended for professors and anyone else who would like to write more. It’s inexpensive and a quick read. Get it, read it over the Christmas break, and then put it into practice when the semester starts back up in January.
